Two-tier affiliate program
A two-tier affiliate program pays two people on a sale: the affiliate who brought the customer, and the affiliate who recruited that affiliate. It stops there: nobody further up is paid.
Also called: 2-tier affiliate program, two tier affiliate, second tier commission.
Worked example: A $100 sale in a two-tier program
- Tier 1: the affiliate (20%)
- $20
- Tier 2: the recruiter (5% of the sale)
- $5
- ViralPayouts fee, first sale of the month
- $2.50
- The brand keeps
- $72.50
In more detail
Tier one is the ordinary commission. Tier two is the recruiter’s override, usually much smaller, set as a share of the commission, a share of the sale or a fixed amount.
Brands use it to turn their best affiliates into recruiters, since a recruiter only earns when the people they bring actually sell.
How ViralPayouts handles it
Every ViralPayouts program is two-tier, with the override switched off if a brand does not want it.
